Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.

At St James’ C of E Primary School, our priority is the welfare and safety of all the children, family and staff and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment. The policy can be viewed below.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

In school, the following staff members are our trained Designated Safeguarding Leads:

Mr J Leeming DSL

Mrs S Filder Deputy DSL

Mrs C Stephens Deputy DSL

However, all school staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn. All staff in school undertake rigorous in-depth safeguarding training on an annual basis. We also include safeguarding as part of our weekly staff meetings.

If you have safeguarding concerns or questions, please come to speak with any of our designated safeguarding leaders in school.

If you are concerned about a child and you feel they are being abused, neglected or at risk of abuse/neglect, then you should consider making a safeguarding child referral.
